Marauders Continue Skid, Thanks to MacKey, Cardinals
|
The Palm Beach Cardinals defeated the Bradenton Marauders, 10-5, at Roger Dean Stadium. Palm Beach left fielder Ricky MacKey had a superb performance. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Palm Beach starter Bob Smith was credited with the win after throwing 107 pitches over 7 innings. His record now stands at 2-3. The Cardinals, now 27-22, have won 5 in a row.
With Palm Beach leading 7-2 in the bottom of the seventh, MacKey came up to bat against Bradenton pitcher Eric Tucker. MacKey hit a screwball to right for a 3-run home run. His 4th home run of the season put the Cardinals on top, 10-2.
