Bradenton Marauders starter Joe Miller pitched a strong game against the Lakeland Flying Tigers at Calvin Falwell Field, leading the Marauders to victory, 7-5. The winner was Miller. He threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Clemente Piccinini. By defeating Lakeland, the 5th-place Marauders improved to 26-32.

The Flying Tigers had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Marauders going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old right fielder Eric Wilkerson came to the plate. Wilkerson hit a 2-run double on a 1-2 fastball from Lakeland hurler Clemente Piccinini. It was Wilkerson's 12th double of the year.

"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Wilkerson.
