James 5-for-5 for Hagerstown
Wednesday, June 3rd , 2026
Mal James put on a hitting clinic as the Hagerstown Suns dumped the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 6-5, at NewBridge Bank Park.
The Hagerstown right fielder made Greensboro defenders earn their pay, lashing Greensboro pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."
"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," James said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."
Mal James singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
In 42 games this season, James is batting .235 with 31 hits and 2 home runs. He has scored 14 runs and driven in 12.
