The St. Lucie Mets topped the Tampa Yankees, 3-2, in Florida State League action at Tradition Field. The standout performance belonged to St. Lucie pitcher and Crystal Beach, Canada, native Fouad Lacoste. St. Lucie reliever Colt Peters got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Greg Moore was tagged with the loss. Mike Arnold earned the save, his 1st, for the Mets.

Albert Vélez went 1-3 for St. Lucie. The 24-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Greg Moore. It was his 11th RBI of the season.

"Fouad is still learning," said Mets manager Jorge Hernandez. "The sky's the limit for him."

The Yankees drop to 9-16.
